Legacy of Faith -- Why a new children's building?

Why do we need a Children’s Building?

1) SAFETY

This used to just be an assumption when you came to church. Adults, don’t you remember the days when kids rode bikes without helmets? Those days are gone! Some parents have mentioned that before joining a church they must believe that their child is safe. We currently live in a society obsessed with the safety of children, and honestly for good reason. While some precautions might be drastic (helmets, really?), having a state of the art children’s building that is complete with all of the latest safety precautions is essential because of the evil now prevalent in our society.    Having a building with only one way in during services, a welcome center designed to prevent just anyone from entering the classroom area without permission, and that welcome center also functioning as a secure drop-off and pick-up area is a necessity in today’s society. Children’s rooms located just off the sanctuary with easy access by every adult who enters our church doors is unfortunately just not a safe environment for our children because of the world that we live in today.

2) ROOM TO GROW AND LEARN

How many kids have you seen standing still? If so, were they in troubleJ? Children are what professionals in the education field call “kinetic” learners. This means they learn by moving around! Studies have shown that children need around 35 square feet per child! The question we must ask ourselves as a church is how committed are we to helping our children learn the truths of Scripture? No adult wants to learn about the Bible by running around (sounds more like exerciseJ) but children do! The new building will provide a sufficient space for children to learn. It is also a space sufficient to house growth. If you have looked closely at the slab it is not a small space. This building truly embraces the title of the campaign, a Legacy of Faith, because this is a building that will house the children of McKinney Street for generations to come.

3) A PLACE THAT WILL EXCITE CHILDREN AND PARENTS

This building will breed one thing in the hearts of children and parents: excitement! This building has been designed and will be decorated with only kids in mind. This place will be a refuge for the children of McKinney Street. They will love it! And parents will see the love of McKinney Street for children in every drawing and craft that hangs along the walls of this new building. Excitement is passion coming alive in the eyes of a child. And this building will be a treasure; a place where passion and excitement for the Lord are written across the faces of children and parents alike.
